All our products are made using the century-old method known as the best resistant material for tile productions from the regime of the city.

Artzellige has gained a reputation for its high-quality products and excellent customer service. The company has worked on various projects around the world, including hotels, restaurants, and residential buildings. It has also collaborated with renowned architects and designers.

Our Process

Step 1

Step 1: Clay Mixing

The artisan mixes the natural clay with water to create a smooth, workable dough. This mixture becomes the base material used to shape the first Zellige forms.

Step 2

Step 2: Hand-Shaping the Tile Biscuit

The clay dough is pressed into handmade molds to form the raw tile shape. DiƯerent molds are used depending on the size or product we want to create.

Step 3

Step 3: Sun Drying

The shaped tiles are laid out to dry naturally under the sun until they become firm. This semi-dry stage makes the clay strong enough for manual compression.

Step 4

Step 4: Manual Compression

The artisan hammers the semi-dried clay to level the surface. This ensures an even thickness for every tile.

Step 5

Step 5: Raw Tile Cutting

The artisan uses a wooden mold as a guide to cut the clay into precise raw tiles. Each piece is shaped one by one, ready for its first firing.

Step 6

Step 6: First Firing

The raw tiles are stacked inside the traditional kiln above the combustion chamber. The rising heat transforms them into hard biscuit tiles ready for glazing.

Step 7

Step 7: Hand Glazing

Each biscuit tile is dipped into the prepared glaze mixture by hand. This coating creates the surface that will develop its final color in the second firing.

Step 8

Step 8: Second Firing

The glazed tiles are fired again at 800–950°C to melt and fix the enamel. This firing reveals the final texture, shine, and natural shade variations of Zellige.

Step 9

Step 9: Hand Cutting

The artisan shapes each fired tile using a special hammer with a thin, sharp edge. This precise hand-cutting creates the classic geometric pieces of Zellige.

Step 10

Step 10: Mosaic Mounting

The hand-cut Zellige pieces are arranged and fixed onto mesh sheets. This makes installation easier and faster for international installers.

Step 11

Step 11: Worldwide Shipping

Orders are packed with care and shipped through the method chosen by the client. With over 35 years of experience, we ensure smooth delivery to any destination worldwide.
